Welcome to the Super Mario Adventures comics section. Here you will find all the old Mario comics which were featured in the Nintendo Power magazines of the early 90's. There's nothing like this around these days, so we thought we'd give people who weren't buying Nintendo Power magazines back then a chance to see what kind of things they were missing. Since this is the entire collection of Nintendo Power magazine and it is a readable item with issues that are 24 years old, once sold and received we will NOT be issuing a refund as this is NOT intended as a read and return. PDF: Nintendo Power #3 – Nov-Dec 1988. This week I am featuring the third issue of Nintendo Power (November-December 1988). The cover story features Track and Field II and its 16 different “mini-games”. In hindsight, you can see what Nintendo really wanted to do with its track and field games, but is just now able to pull it off with the Wii.
Franchise, is a collection of comics that originally ran in Nintendo Power magazine in 1992-93. The peril-plagued Princess Toadstool is kidnapped by the diabolical deadbeat Bowser but super plumbers Mario and Luigi hatch a plan with their new friend Yoshi to rescue her. Are the Super Mario Bros’ plans a pipe dream?
If you thought you were excited when you saw the first Issues of Nintendo Power and Playstation Magazine posted in PDF form, you are going to really start drooling when you log into RetroMags.
The incredible team of scanners is dedicated to scanning a number of classic gaming magazines and releasing them in mass quantities. In fact, they actually have a COMPLETE set of Nintendo Power issues. My only complaint is that I can’t really figure out how to access their archive other than via torrents on third-party sites.
I actually learned about this site because of some negligence of mine. When I got a lot of visitors for the first Nintendo Power issue, the Admin from RetroMags was quick to point out the scan originated from their site. I didn’t realize this as I had originally downloaded it from my favorite download spot, Underground Gamer, and hadn’t looked into the origin. (Shame on me)
In the meantime, we’ve all gotten things straightened out and I hope to team up with RetroMags to add to their archive and help promote the scans in continuing weekly feature.
While you are free to download hundreds of issues right now, I plan on highlighting one issue at a time each week in order to enjoy the small details, like this one from the first Nintendo Power issue.

Currently RetroMags is focusing on rounding out the earlier issues of Playstation Magazine, but due to the focus of my personal collection and those of other racketboy.com members, we will be focusing on Sega-related magazines such as Sega Visions, Official Dreamcast Magazine, and some of the Saturn-related magazines from the UK. I think these contributions will greatly complement the existing scans at RetroMags.

This issue also feature an excellent guide to one of my favorite NES games, Blaster Master. In the middle of the issue you will find the accompanying poster for Blaster Master as well.
The issue is primarily filled with other game guides such as ones for Mickey Mousecapade, Ultima, and Blades of Steel.
On page 56, Nintendo Power features the “Secret Weapons” on the NES: The NES Advantage joytick and the NES Max joypad. It highlights the special features of each controller and what games benefit most from the controller innovations. Even then, Nintendo was innovative in its hardware.
Finally, on page 95, The Players Forum’s Celebrity profile stars Jay Leno (before he took over Johnny Carson’s job on the Tonight Show). Yes, even Jay was once captivated by the NES.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this great issue. Let me know what you think!
This issue was originally scanned by the good folks at RetroMags. Keep up the great work!
